These Flaxseed crackers are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids and a great source of fibers, easy to prepare and great if you are trying to lose weight. The ingriedients are natural and whole and as always intended to heal the body. Notice that we added Psyllium fibers to the mix. Here are few reasons why I always add these fibers to my bread recipes.
The Psyllium is a soluble fibermade from the husks of plant’s seeds. It’s most commonly known as a laxative. However, research shows that taking psyllium is beneficial to the human body, including the heart and Pancreas,
Digestive health -Psyllium soaks up water in your gut and makes bowel movement easier especially for theose with a tendancy to constipation.
Psyllium is a prebiotic— a substance needed for healthy colonies of probioticsto grow in the gut. This helps reduce inflammation in the body while boosting the immune system.
Heart health -Research has shown that taking soluble fiber can help people manage their cholesterol levels.
I am a great believer in good quality supplements this is why after long research I chose to collaborate with Dr. Gundry - Purchase DR. Gundry supplements probiotics here
A study published in the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology shows that psyllium intake helps lower bad cholesterol, improves triglyceride levels and satiety, reduces blood pressure, and aids weight loss. All of these, together, help treat metabolic syndrome
The ingredients
1/2 cup flaxseeds whole
1/2 cup grinded flaxseed
1 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1 cup almond flower
1/3 cup Psyllium fibers
1 cup water
pinch of salt
2 tbs coconut oil
1 additional spoon of coconut oil - use it to spread on the baking paper
Preparation
Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl
Add water while mixing the ingredients
You may need to add more water to receive a lighter mixture
Place a well greased baking paper on a tray (using coconut oil)
Add the mixture spreading it on the tray creating a very thin layer.
Place in a preheated oven 200 C
Bake until ready ( 10-15 minutes)
Note- If the crackers are not thin you may have to turn them over and bake for an additional 2-3 minutes or until crunchy.
How to store it ?
Once cooled down place the crackers in a container with a lead. You may also store it in the freezer.
How to shop for Psyllium?
The simple rule is : buy it organic with minimum process. By reading the labels and the list of ingredients you can tell how processed the food is. The shorter the list the better . Psyllium fibers should contain only Psyllium with no additional preservatives or food coloring.
